hm...how much bottle
« on: January 29, 2006, 03:33:44 am »
my son is 7 months.
Eats 3 meals a day of average of 5oz each meal
he breast feeds 4x a day and a dreamfeed

He took a bottle for the first time this morning but would only take 3.5 onces.
Then he was grumpy so I BF and he took one side (about 3oz).
With the amount of solids that he is getting and 5x milk how many onces of milk shoud he be taking?
I need to know how much I should put in the bottle.

Also how do I get him to take the full amount in the bottle?
He will only take the bottle until the initial hunger is fixed then he wants to BF.

I replied in your other post but given what you've said here the fact he's taking 3.5oz is quite good.  I don't think I'd offer the breast after the bottle if I were you.  He may not actually be that hungry but happy to suckle since it's comforting.  Not sure but that's what I would try.  If he's really hungry, I'm sure he'll let you know.

As for how much in the bottle for 5 feeds.  Again, it's going to vary from child to child but I would try for 5, 5-6oz bottles.
