Help me!!
« on: January 31, 2006, 10:48:46 am »
Hi i know these sort of topics are posted constantly but i cant face trawling through all the posts, too tired :-\
My beautiful 7 month old daughter has since she turned six months, started waking up for feeds every 4 hours!

She had been sleeping through since she was 5 weeks!
Im still feeding her myself!

I just cant decide what is the best thing to do for her & me!

I have gone through this with my 4 month old for the past 3 weeks  ??? I know what sleep deprivation is and after many sleepless nights you cannot function.  :'(

Firstly I need to ask:

Is she teething?
Does she have a cold/bug at the moment?
Is she taking any type of solids during the day? (only asking due to her age, she possibly needs more than breastmilk)
Are you dream feeding her?

Hi, as with Lauren, check all of the above. Babies usually wake up because they are hungry and most HV's will tell you that babies don't need to be fed at night after 6 months. I slowly weaned my 8 month old off night feeds (although she's ill now and not eating during the day so she's having a small feed at night atm) but she was eating 3 full meals a day. Hope this helps (((hug))) xx

thanx for replying!

she has 3 meals a day!
She sometimes can be settled by just going in & giving her a dummy but she then wakes after a few hours again.
She is teething though so could that be it?

Hiya again

If it is teething my LO is 4 months and being awake for the same thing last 3 weeks, he wakes up screaming sometimes. I have been so tired everyday as sometimes he needs resettled every 40mins to 2hours.

I live in the UK and I was advised by my health visitor to keep giving him calpol and rub his gums with anbesol liquid rather than a gel (as they just swallow it). His gums do look red and he constantly dribbles, has red cheeks and has something usually fingers in his mouth. I have also tried Ashton & Parsons infant powders (homeopathic)

Is your LO displaying these symptoms?

Do you have a health visitor you can speak to about this for advise?

Is your LO hungry when she wakes every 4 hours in the night or has she now got used to being fed and needs you feeding her to get back to sleep?  ::) I don't feed him anymore than the one he usually has during the night, every other waking I settle him back to sleep because he isn't hungry.

OMG Rachel!!!
I have just posted under night awakings for the same thing Calum has started this since I spoke to you last - no one has replied to me yet, will keep you informed.

Calum found his voice last Friday and has been very vocal at 4ish for the last 3 mornings - I know he is not hungry as he had been sleeping through the week prior and is still eating well :'(

Also he is not tething at the moment again so its not pain or hunger, he is just wide awake when I go through , however falls asleep easily once I have been through (usually)
