How long before a dreamfeed shows some benefits?
« on: January 31, 2006, 14:40:30 pm »
Someone may have posted something similar recently (or maybe it was on another forum... I dunno... I'm half asleep these days). Sorry if this is a repeat.

My son is a pretty good sleeper, but of course only being a month old he wakes for feedings through the night. I put him down in his crib for the night around 8/8.30pm, he'll wake for feedings around 12/1am, 4/5am, then he wakes for the day around 7am.

I would LOVE to eliminate the 12/1am feed by introducing a dreamfeed, say, around 10/10.30pm (his last bottle before bed is around 7/7.30pm). I've tried this once, but he only consumed a couple of ounces and still woke up at 12/1am as usual... so I ended up more tired than I would have been if I'd left well enough alone.

Do I need to keep this up for a while, like a week or so, before I start to see some results or should it be fairly instantaneous?

Wow thats not bad at all for a one month old :) You've done a great job.
as for the dreamfeed, it can take a bit of time before it really works yes. However, I have noticed that it, unfortunitly, doesn't work for all babies. Your LO is still quite young, I'd recomend that if its not working, you drop it for a week or 2, and then try it agian.
Meanwhile your doing a great job so keep it up :)
