My 15 month old girl has always eaten very well. She generally still does in light of teething and the like. However, lately she asks for food throughout the day, maybe nibbles a bit and pushes it away. Before you know it... she's asking AGAIN. Same routine ... nibble and push. This holds true even if she's eaten her B/L/D in *healthy* quantity! (She gets to choose between items ... that's not the issue.)
So here's the Sleep monkey wrench. Because I am in my 9th month of pregnancy and have been sooo tired all along I have been all too willing to perpetuate a 2-nap day. She occassionally sleeps one nap, but I haven't been properly pursing it. Notabley, both night and day, she still sleeps like a champ. Rarely even a peep and certainly NEVER pitching a fit to eat. Goes down easily, wakes bright and chipper, starts the day at 7am.
My theory is that she might have a general out-of-sync feeling where her body confuses hunger and tiredness and that a one-nap day is the fix. She has given me hungry AND tired hand-signs in quick succession, too, which becomes "too hungry to sleep, too sleepy to eat". Or maybe then a single pretzel and some water solves the problem for the moment and she'll go gladly to bed. As you can imagine this is exhausting and confusing.
Does anyone have a theory? Experience?
