how long between naps (activity time)
« on: February 04, 2006, 18:25:08 pm »
I know every child is different but about how long shoud a 6.5 month old have between naps.  She was doing great with the morning nap but is now back to the 45 minute thing for all naps.  Do I need to extend activity time?  And do we do this gradually because she still seems tired at about the 2 hour mark and I'm not sure whether this is a learned thing, she's just very into the routine, or if she is really needing to go for a nap at this point.
Her day:
7-8 am wake bf
8:30-9 solid feed
9-10 sleep (depending on wake-up time
10-11 wake
11:30 bf
12:30 - 1 sleep
1- 2 solid feed
3: 30 bf
4 sleep
5:30 solid feed
6 bf
7-8 bf, bath bed
Thanks,
Tracey

My DD starting with the 45min monster and being a problem to put down for all sleeps about a month ago. So i though i would try extending her awake time and cut out her late afternoon cat nap (she always hated taking this). I did it gradually starting with the morning extending by 15mins for a wk then another 15mins the next week. Then did the same for her afternoon nap. It worked a treat so now this is when she sleeps:

9.30am - 11.15/11/30am(wake if not already awake)
2pm - 3.45/4.15pm (wake if not already awake)
Bed at 7pm.

So her awake time is now 2 hours and 30 minutes?  And did you cut out the last nap first or after you had extended the times?
Thanks,Tracey

Also, did she seem tired still at the 2 hour mark and just need to get used to a longer activity time or was she ok with the extra time right from the start.
