11 month old done with bottle
« on: February 09, 2006, 04:34:34 am »
well she hasn't taken it the last 4 days and i am really trying not to panic because she is just about 11 months old now.  she seems more interested in her sippy, question though how much liguid should she be getting at this age since i am now unable to regulate it with the bottle unless she starts taking it again.  I have been giving her yogurrt and cheese to make up for the lack of formula intake and she gets water and juice occasionally and she is kinda taking the formula in her sippy.  so any advice, i am kinda worried about this but have been told not to worry, she may just be done with her bottle.
wanted to add also what should i replace her bottle feeds with, just milk in her sippy, or a snack> this would make her eating like 5 times per day and i just know she won't go for that.

We're in a similar situation here. Ds seems to have finished with his bottle too.  Infact he seems to be finished with milk full stop   >:(  I am trying desperately not to worry as he eats lots of cheese, yogurt, custard and milk on cereal etc... so I know he gets lots of milk in other forms, but it is hard.  I spent a couple of days chasing him around with a sippy cup of milk all day and it didn't help.  Just got me and him both annoyed and upset.  Now I just make sure he gets lots of water and juice and I keep offering him milk in his cup through the day.  He usually has porridge before bed to replace the milk and that does him fine.

In terms of what to replace the bottles with I'd play it by ear.  Maybe try offering milk in a sippy cup.  If she doesn't take much offer her a snack of some sorts.  Trial and error I think.  And bare in mind that each day may be different.  Some days Daniel won't drink even a sip of milk form his cup.  Other days he drinks a couple of ounces.  I think the best advice I was given as to just keep offering.

Hope this puts your mind at rest a bit.

Hi

I'd go for milk in the sippy if she'll take it. The recommended about from 12 months is about 350ml per day (2/3 pint) but not all of that needs to come from milk. If she's getting plenty of other dairy then a couple of sippys of milk her day would be fine.

love

Marie

thanks, I may have to figure out how and when to add in extra snacks to make up for it, maybe a bedtime snack would be good? she used to take a 6 ounce bottle right at bedtime so maybe i can replace that wilth something else....who knows next week she may want her bottle again but she just screams and arches when she sees it now so i just may stop offering it all together.
