How much awake (A) time for a 9-month old?
« on: February 09, 2006, 23:36:42 pm »
Hey,
Just a quick question:
How much awake (A) time should I expect from a 9-month-old baby?

I've read in many places that if their A time is too short then they'll take short naps (45 minutes).

Things used to be good with our 4 hour EASY...she took 2 (2 hour) naps daily without protest, etc. Recently things have been falling apart and I'm not sure if it is because I need to be moving to a longer EASY...say like 5 hours?

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Hi,
Have a read of the 'scheduling 9 month old' and 'from 3 naps to 2' which is also about 9 mth old & awake times etc!

My 9mth old now has 3 meals a day....5 hours apart roughly. Bottle when he first wakes at 6.30am, then solids 7.30-8am. Then lunch/bottle around midday, then dinner at 5pm and bottle before bed. Sometimes he has a mid morning/afternoon snack. I'm in the process of stretching his awake time from 2 hours to 3 but doing it gradually. Then ideally he will wake at 6.30am, be up for 3 hours then nap from 9.30-11am and then up for 3 hours then nap from 2-3.30pm then bed at 7pm.

Hope this helps?

Thanks for the reply. I will read what you suggested and hopefully it will help. We're just struggling with so many different things right now :(

Well, I'm off to bed...I'm exhausted!
Thanks again.
