How many feeds?
« on: February 10, 2006, 00:36:10 am »
Hi Ladies!
First, I'd like to say how helpful you have all been, I've been able to turn my spirited dd into an angel (most of the time!).
Quick question for you- my dd is now 12 weeks old (small baby- 10lbs but has always been in the 10% range) how many times should she be feeding in a 24 hour period? My local BF clinic says minimum 5x. She currently feeds 8x- every 3 hours and 1-2 night waking feeds. I used to cluster and then DF but she was too fussy about this. I don't wait for her to cry- I just feed at the 3 hour mark and she seems to take a full feed (both sides). Should I continue this or should I actually wait for her to show me she's hungry?

I kept on the hourly schedule we had until Max lengthened his EASY cycle by being able to stay awake longer. He was 2hrly until 4 months, and then 3hrly until 8 months he finally stretched to 4hrly.

She sounds like she's doing perfect for her age!

I also think she is doing great for her age. Some babies take 8 feeds per day at this age. If I remember well, my dd was having 8 feeds at this age, too.

She sounds fine to me, I remeber that my DS had only just risen from two hourly to three hourly feed at this stage.

Keep up the good work!
