28 month old waking too early
« on: February 11, 2006, 17:25:02 pm »
My 28 month old has always been a good sleeper.  However, for the last few weeks she's been waking up too d*** early.  We used to wake her at 6:45.  Now she wakes on her own anywhere from 5:30 on.  She goes to bed at 7:30, and is usually alseep by 8:00, and has a nap during the day, usually about 1 hour, maybe 2 on weekends.  I don't think the answer is putting her to bed later, as she seems to be short on sleep (ie cranky!).  Any thoughts on what we can do?  She just cries and gets all worked up when we tell her it's not time to get up.

What time is her nap?  With my daughter, I found if I put her to nap later, she sleeps later in the morning.  I am not sure why, but it worked for us.

Sometimes the only wake to get them to wake up later is in fact by putting them to bed earlier.
From the posts that I have read and the feedback, sometimes this works wonders.I would try
10 mins each week earlier to see if that helps.
I would also like to say that Emily goes to bed at 6.20pm and wakes about 5.15am.If I out her to bed later
she wakes at 4.30am,if I out her to bed even earlier, she still wakes at 5.15am.
So I'm not going by experience, just from this site.
Good luck :)

Her nap is after lunch, which during the week, at daycare (so I have no control) is about 12:15, and on the weekends is usually closer to 1:00.

What is wake to sleep?  I've seen that mentioned, but can't find any specifics.

Thanks for the idea of getting her to bed even earlier.  It'll be hard, as there isn't much time between getting home, supper, and the bedtime routine, but it's definitely worth a shot.  Poor thing, we'll never see her!
