Whole grains, barley etc....

is is just wheat that can be an allergin?  i am so confused on this, is barley, whole grain bread okay??

Sorry this went unanswered for a bit...it's typically just wheat that's considered an allergen, although just about any food can be one. Wheat's just one of the more common culprits. If you're trying to avoid wheat, barley should be okay (it's a different grain). For whole grain bread, you'll probably have to read the label.
