after grow spurt, do they eat less?
« on: February 14, 2006, 23:52:08 pm »
Hi everyone

I can't believe i'm posting this because just earlier i posted that my DS was finishing his 8oz bottles, well to prove me wrong he's now eating 5 or 6oz max, what does this mean, did he have a grow spurt and that's why he was eating more and now he's gonna eat less or what? Do all your LO's do this? or shoudl i put a faster nipple in the bottles?

Hi Ester

It could well be that it was just a growth spurt and now he's back to smaller amounts.

As long as he's eating something I wouldn't worry too much.

I'd keep an eye on his teeth and on his temp though - just in case it's teething pains or a cold or something that's causing it.

love
Marie

Katie does this too.  After a couple of weeks of 2-3 oz. bottles, she chugged two 6oz bottles today.  I switched her to a fast flow nipple (using Playtex drop-ins and they only have slow and fast) and she did just fine.  I think we're done with the slow ones.

My lo, used to only eat like 2 oz per feeding and I switched to fast flow and that is when he started eating more as well.  He was just falling asleep with the slow flow.  Just watch cause it is easier for them to get gas with the fast flow, my lo did and I switched to the platex advance bottle(I noticed they know have med. flow but I never bothered)

thank you ladies, its good to know i'm not alone. I switched for a faster nipple flow yesterday and so far it has been good, he's taking about 6 to 8 oz each feed, so i guess that's back to normal ehh?
Thank you all for answering  :D
