Baby hates milk
« on: February 16, 2006, 03:25:28 am »
I really wasn't sure where to post this but my dd stopped taking her bottles and all milk over a week ago, she would usually get half formula and half cows milk and would suck it down, now wants nothing to do with it, when she tastes it she kinda spits it out, so i have to make sure she gets plenty of water and other dairy type foods.  She was getting this mixture with permission from my ped. because she has always been a bad formula drinker, was breastfed.  anyway how do i get her to take milk?? any tricks, suggestions or is she never going to be a milk drinker?? :)

Hi  :)
You may want to try rice or soy milk.  Maybe she'll prefer the taste better.

I had the same prob with my 1 year old daughter, she didn't like full fat milk until I tried a bottle of Cow & Gate Growing up Milk. She liked that so after a day or so I tried a little of the full fat again, slightly warmed, and in her bottle that she likes to hold, to my amazement she drank it and wanted more! ;)

well strange thing, she has decided that she wants her milk again, as long as she can hold her bottle, so she is taking 3 bottles a day again....i guess she went thru a fussy week or something.  anyway i do 50/50 and she likes it fine, sucks it down.  Can you give soymilk at anytime now at this age??  i wonder if she would like the vanilla soymilk.  I just don't know when its safe to give them other "milk".

At least she is now 11 months ols. Will she take solids well? Do you think you could mix milk into solids such as making custard with milk, adding milk or cheese or yoghurt to meals and desserts.

Its amazing how much milk you can mix into foods. My sister managed this with her son, he continues to gain weight fine, likes yoghurt and cheese so has plenty of calcium and just drinks water to keep fliuds up.

Hope this helps
