when you go abroad ....
« on: February 18, 2006, 14:39:43 pm »
we are going to the far east for 10 days next month ..... need some advice.

when you go aboard, do you feed ur lo with local tap water (boil it first of course) ... or buy bottle water?

i heard it's not good to feed baby bottle filter water, (not mineral water), not too sure of the reason actually ...

My kids only drink water and when we're at home we fill cups/bottles up with tap water, So when we go abroad we buy bottled water and fill their cups/bottles up with that.
I wouldn't trust tap water from far east or even Spain, even if it was boiled!!
And 10 days isn't that long really.

The reason they caution about bottled water is because of the mineral content - my health visitor said evian was alright as it didn't contain all the high levels of minerals
We used this when abroad on holiday with dd1 and she had no problems

Hope am not too late with my reply either. Took dd to Italy at 6 months of age and gave her bottled water with no problems. It's only 10 days so I think it would be fine. To be honest I would avoid tap water even boiled, also try not to buy from street vendors and make sure bottles are sealed properly when buying. Evian is one of the recommended bottled waters for babies as its very low in sodium.
