i started yogurt and cheese at almost 8 months.  there is baby yogurt although i couldn't find it anywhere, so i tried the plain yogurt and mixing it with her homemade pureed fruit.  she kinda liked it but when i was eating some peach yogut i gave her a taste and she totally loved that - probably not that great for her considering the sugar in it - but it was only a little!  she loves cheese also, i have seen people do cheese slices, but i always give dd shredded cheese.

I started my LO at about 8months too. If you think they've had a reaction if they a rash, diarrhea or seem unusually cranky just hold off a month longer until you try again. Theres no hurry to start so I'd wait a few months yet  :)

I started both at 6 months and DD was fine however she is bottle feed. If bf i would try and wait a bit as they aren't use to the milk in them yet.

I'm holding off to 12months BUT ds#1 had problems with dairy & Iheld him off until 9months & he then had problems with whole cows milk at 12mo, so with ds#2, I just decided to hold off everything dairy until 12mo. But I had dairy intolerance as a child, so knew it was a good idea

IMHO, YO BABY is the best yogurt I've found for babies.  Here, I can usually find it in the organic, or whole foods section of a normal grocery store, and most organic-type stores carry it as well.  (Trader Joes, Whole Foods, etc.).

Here is their website - perhaps that can help you find it in your area...

I also use the Yo Baby yogurt and have found it at Super Walmart or Super Target and many other grocery stores.

Also, for cheese, I have found cheese crumbles (in cheddar or mozzarella or a combo) to be good finger foods.  I have to cut up some of the "crumbles" because they are a little to big but they're easy for my lo to handle and he loves them.  They are in a package just like shredded cheese and at least at my grocery store, included with the shredded cheese.

As for age, I too, think I waited until 8 months to introduce yogurt and cheese.
