not taking bottle anymore
« on: February 22, 2006, 05:44:18 am »
Hi, I need some advice.

Started feeding son solids, loves the cereal, veggies and fruits, only problem now is that he went from drinking 4 8oz bottles a day to 2, and the two are only because he is half asleep when we trick him to drink(early morning, and late night) during the day he won't drink anymore. He is not cranky or crying that he is hungry, but I know he is not getting enough milk.

Any advice?

Two questions...how old is he? Can you post his daily routine, especially the amount of solids he gets each day? That should help us figure out what's going on!

I am having this problem as well my DS has just turned 5 months and since last week he has refused most of his milk, he is 16lb 14oz and I am using the fastest teat.

Over the past few day this is an rough outline of our day:
Wake 0715
E 0730 8or9oz  (inc. poo change)
A 0830
S 0915 he is out in cot 5-10mins before hand if he shows tired signs
E 1100 Pot, Carrot and Brocolli - 1 icecube each & 1oz, not interest in anymore before feed
A 1115
S 1320  30mins (we had a visitor and Calum is noisy - think the doorbell woke him)
A 1340
E 1430 6oz at a push it takes an hour to feed
A 1500
S 1600
E 1700 petite filous & 2oz not interest in anymore before feed
A 1715
E 1900
A bath
E1940 10 - 12oz between last split feed
S 2000 put in cot awake, sleeping by 2015

I know he is not getting enough milk as he woke in the night for the first time in ages last night, I have recently changed (4 days ago) to 3 bottles, but now I am not sure if thats the right thing. My HIV suggests starting a breakfast as well, but I'm not sure if that is best either.
He put on 11oz in 2 weeks, so I know he is not starving.

Any suggestions?
