Starting Solids

Very soon I am starting my daughter on solids.  She has always been a very gassy baby, still to this day she gets up a couple of times a night because of gas pains.  My doctor recommended starting her on rice cereal however I have heard from others that she might be better off on oatmeal as it is less likely to bind her up.  Has anyone started with oatmeal?  Any advice you could give me would be appreciated.  Thanks!

We had tried rice in the bottle for reflux.  Backed her up and lots of gas.  When we started solids, we skipped the rice and went straight to oatmeal.  Much less trouble.  We have not tried barley as I have to order it, but some use that too.  Hope that helps a bit.

Jenn,

If you don't mind me asking, when did you start solids.  Is your daughter still gassy, if not when did it finally go away?
