Any 16 week olds on 4 hour EASY?
« on: February 22, 2006, 18:33:52 pm »
My daughter was 16 weeks on Tuesday. I am in the process of transitioning to a 4 hour EASY. It says in the book to extend the first activity time and keep the rest the same. However, my LO seems to want a short morning time and the rest of her activity times longer. For example, this morning her awake time was 1.5 hours. She went down for a nap and slept 1.75 hours. The next A time was 1 hr. 35 min. She was slighty overtired. So, the third A time I put her down at 1.5 hours exactly and she laughed and play. Then, she fussed. I got her up and did wind down again and put her down. Then, she went to sleep, so A time was 1.75.

Anyone else have babies with longer A time as the day goes on? So, do I work on extending afternoon A times and leave the morning short?

It is certainly fine to tweak the EASY routine to best suite your child.  My dd has always had her shortest A time in the morning, then longer in the afternoon, then back to a bit shorter before bed.  Every child is different, and you should do what best works for yours.  Congrats on the good work!

Olivia has always had the shortes A time in the morning and each A time was longer as we went through the day. she woudl have less than 2 hrs in the 1st A and sometimes her last A was as long as 4+ hrs. i have read that this is quite normal to have a gradual increase through the day.

Thanks both of you for your responses. Her A time got did get longer. We had a 2 hour one yesterday afternoon. I thought she would be overtired, but she still took a two hour nap.  :D Hopefully it will keep going well.
