EASY, breastfeeding and solids schedule
« on: February 27, 2006, 10:40:04 am »
I've had some success implementing EASY with DD when she was smaller, but now it is all over the place (she is still up all night nursing, etc). I'm thinking of trying again but I'm a bit confused regarding the EASY plan when they are on soilds and still BF. Are they supposed to take milk AND solids every 4 hours, or do they alternate? How will I be sure she is taking enough milk? I'm back to work (flex hours and different ever yday of the week) so trying to acomodate that as well.
My little princess is 2.5 :) Textbook/Angel/Spirited toddler
My little munchkin is few weeks old and doesn't understnd EASY!

I don't breast feed but here is the current routine for my 5month old DS.

7am - wake
E 7:30am - bottle - 6-8oz
8:15am - Breakfast - porridge mixed with 2oz of milk I usually add an icecube of fruit to this as well.
A 0830
S 9:00 (although has recently started staying up for 3hrs sometimes, if so nap at 10am)

E 12:00 - bottle - 5-6oz  (I give him as much as he will take)
   12.45pm - solids - 3 or 4 veggie or fruit ice cubes
A 1300
S 1400 (although has recently started staying up for 3hrs sometimes, if so nap at 3pm)

E16:00pm - bottle - 5-6oz (I give him as much as he will take)
16:45pm - small yogurt for babies
A1700 (will sometimes take a catnap, but lately doesn't want them)

E 18.45pm - bottle - 10-12oz  (last bottle is split, started it when younger and it works well for us as he like to cluster at night) Roll Eyes
A bath
E 1940
S in cot awake.

I have also posted Natasha Wells' schedule below, I keep 'bumping' into her when I post her LO is just under 7 months, it seems to work really well for her and she help me whe I had problems a few weeks back.

7.30am - 7oz Bottle
8.15am - Cereal with yoghurt and milk
12pm - Lunch Fruit custard or jelly
12.45pm - Bottle 7oz
4.45pm - Dinner Veges with whatever meat we are having and sometimes pasta
6.30pm - 7oz bottle

Hope this is a starter for you.

Hi Seaflower,

I love our routine which we have been on since 5 months when she dropped a bottle and a sleep. If however you wanted to add another breastfeed in to make it 4 especially if she is still waking during the night. At this age MOST babies whether bottle or b/f are sleeping all night. So with 4 b/fs you could do this:

7.30am - BF
8.30am - Breakfast
12pm - BF
1pm - Lunch
4pm - BF
5pm - Dinner
7pm - BF

If you want you can swap Solids and BF around if you want whatever suits you best. They do recommend doind BF/Bottle before Solids at this age but as you can see i do both as that is what DD likes best. Also if you want to start the day earlier then move schedule forward according to you. Catherine usually wakes around 7am but isn't always hungry first thing in the morning so we have cuddle time in out bed :-)
Good luck and don't hesitate to ask me more questions if you need to  :)
Thanks Lauren i am hounoured you think my routine is good  :P

I breastfeed and our routine goes like this:

7am wake up and breast feed, solids at 7:30am (ussually some oatmeal and fruit)

playtime till about 9am

naps from about 9:30-11

11am - breastfeed
1130am - solids

naps from 2:30-4pm

4pm breastfeed, 430 solids

catnap around 6ish, if he is really tired but he ussually makes it to 8pm (which is his bedtime)

I breastfeed him again at 7pm and give him solids at 7:30

He sleep from 8pm - 7am. Occasionally he wakes in the morning around 500am but goes back to sleep. I do not give him a dream feed or feed him at night when he wakes. I know he is getting enough food during the day.
