Night Feeds - Advice needed desperate!!!
« on: March 02, 2006, 17:43:35 pm »
Dear All,

I have a 3 week old daughter weighs 7 1/2 llbs. I am currently putting her to sleep at

8pm with 3oz bottle.
 dream feed her at 10:30pm
Feed her again 1:15amish
Feed her again 4:15amish

Do I wait for her to completelky awaken from her sleep at the 1ama nd 4am sleeps before feeding her or do I feed her in semi conciousness?
Do I wind her at the 1:15am and 4:15am feeds? Or let her fall asleep at the end of her bottle and put her straight back in the crib???

Need to know if I am doing this the right way or setting my self up for bigger problems later on.

Hasmi ???

Are you bottle feeding or breastfeeding?

If you want to feed the lo while she's out, I think that's ok.  It's up to you, but since she is so young, I would ensure that she is fed every 3 hours if she is bf.

If she is bottle fed I can pop this over to the bottle feeding thread for you.

Hi there. Congratulations on your new baby.
Your off to a great start :) sounds like your LO sleeps well. When your LO wakes at night you can feed feed her semi concious, just make sure that this is only done at night, that way your LO will know the difference between night and day. As for winding her, that depends on your baby. Some babies can go down at night no problem, some get bad gas, base this on her. I don't think there is a right or wrong way.
You sound like your doing a great Job. Your a great mom  ;D

Catherine was probably doing the same thing at 3 weeks. I found over a week the two night feeds became 1 then by 6 weeks it got later and later until their were no more :D So it sounds to me you are doing a great job keep it up. So to answer your question i don't think you should get her up let her tell you when she is ready for a feed. As for winding her if she is ok not to then don't bother if you are worried it will upset her to much at night.
