Prematurity baby and EASY structure
« on: March 03, 2006, 22:42:58 pm »
Hi  :)

Can anyone advice me on getting going with the EASY structure and a premature infant.

My baby is 15 weeks old today, but 4 weeks corrected gestational age and exclusively breastfed. I've just started reading the BW book and am beginning to implement EASY. However, I find my baby is easily kept awake after the first feed, but the next two feeds she is very sleepy and can't be kept awake. Does this sound ok for the routine, until she is able to stay awake more?  ???

She was in the NICU for 7 weeks and they had her on a 3 hourly feeding routine.

Any advice or tips?

Regards
Tina

Hi Tina,
Congratulations on your lo!
My babies were 12 weeks prem and came home after 9 weeks.  They are now 8 months old, so roughly 5 months corrected.  They are still on a 3 hourly routine.

Is she still on a 3 hour routine?  At the moment, I would treat her as a 4 week old and keep activity time to a minimum.  EG, feed, nappy change, then bed.  She will start extending her A time as she gets older.
My 2 still can't manage more than 1 1/2 hours A time.

If you need any other help, feel free to ask.  :)
