I have 6 week old triplet boys, and I am trying to implement the EASY plan, but things are not always working out! Maybe I am trying to push them too soon? Any advice is appreciated.
The boys weigh 8 pounds, 7 pounds, and 6 pounds (approximately). They eat every 3 1/2 - 4 hours. They are eating 5 1/2, 5 and 4 ounces respectively, and the schedule seems to suit them. (In other words, they seem hungry every 3 1/2 -4 hours, and I generally do not have to wake them at that time.) My husband and I feed them at the same time, and it usually takes about an hour from diaper change to final burp. (And then my reflux baby spits for an hour, but that's another story!)
I've been trying to start the first "morning feed" at 7:30, so they eat again at 11, 2:30, 6:00, and 9:30. I get confused about what to do after that.
How do you implement a "bedtime"? Should I be "putting them down" after the 9:30 feed, and then hoping for teh best? When it's bedtime, do they still have "activity time"? I've tried a dream feed at midnight, but it doesn't seem to keep them asleep any longer. Also, after the middle of the night feeding, my biggest boy seems completely awake, and I can't get him to go back to sleep. He will look around and be very alert, and 30 minutes later, he loses his mind!
If they do wake up in the middle of the night, do I still keep them on schedule the next morning, no matter how much time has passed? In other words, if they make it all the way until 5, do I still start their day at 7:30?
I need help! I have to get a schedule!
