How much solids to give a 6 month old?
« on: March 08, 2006, 01:24:02 am »
My son just turned 6 months and I was wondering how much solids to feed him?  Right now he receives 1 oz of cereal and 1 oz of fruit in the morning and 1 oz cereal and 1 oz of vegies at dinner.  Thanks.

Is he bottle fed or breastfed? The amount of solids that's "right" for each baby varies a LOT, so your best bet is to keep an eye on his formula intake or nursing habits. He should still get around 32 oz of formula per day or nurse at least 4 times each day and seem hungry at each feeding. HTH!

Looks like his formula intake is exactly where it should be. You can always try to increase his solids a bit until he starts losing interest in his bottles or having trouble finishing them.
