change in bowel movements
« on: March 08, 2006, 07:52:33 am »
Just wondered if anyone has had experience or can give
advice on an exclusively breastfed baby's bowel movements.  My lo
(4.5 mths) has recently started only passing a
movement once a day and it is much darker in colour
and very very loose.  She used to have 2 - 3 per day
and they were always yellowish containing a little
solid.  She seems to be very constipated and is so
uncomfortable during the night and getting very
distressed. We have not changed anything that I am
aware of in her routine.

My los movements started changing around then.  From about 3 or 4 a day to about 1 every 3 days... and yes, the colour and consitency did change.  Unless you think she is ill or unless she has started some type of solid, I would say that it's just normal.  But you know your lo better than anyone else, so if you feel distressed, get it checked out.
