« on: March 08, 2006, 21:44:47 pm »
Hope someone can help:

Riley is 2 1/2 months old and weighes about 11 lbs.. she is on a 3 to 3 1/2 hour EASY. Here is the problem, she takes about 20 oz during the day and a 4oz feed anywere from 2 to 4 in the night.. we have been doing a dreamfeed from day one and she was taking 4 oz no problem. well the last 3 weeks we can not get anymore then 2 oz if that in her during the DF.. We have tried it at 10 ,10:30 and 11, no differencesame amount everytime, we even try to wake her up and she won't. LAst night DH got so frustrated....My question is should i try and not give her the DF and see what happens or do you thing i should just continue with the 2 oz and be happy she sleeps for 4 to 5 hours after that..Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get more in her.. her last feed is around 7pm, the late afternoon and early evening are very hard for me since she will not nap very long i seem to be feed ing her at 2 5 and then again at 7. how do i stretch out a feed till 6pm.. can you tell i don't have a clue how to handle this.. I am all over the place..

if anyone can help please it would be appreciated.

It wouldn't hurt to try and skip the dream feed one night. I know many parents that never did a dream feed and had children that slept through - what's that right?!  ;) I don't think there is anyway to get "more" into them during the dream feed. They will only take what they take. I would not try and wake her up, otherwise she may start to habitually wake at that time - something you don't want! I would continue to cluster feed in the evening - 2, 5, and 7. What time does she go to bed at night? I'm assuming 7 after her feed? I hope this helps a but, if you want you can post her schedule and I can have a look to see if I can help with anything else! I went through all of this not that long ago!  :)

Liam did that for a little while, and then went back to taking 4 oz again.  There have been a few times that he did that, but it never seemed to last very long and (knock on wood) he has been sleeping thru since he was 8 weeks.  We stopped the DF a couple of weeks ago.

Never did a dreamfeed with John as I didn't read the BW until he was 4mos, but he slept through 7-7 at 8 weeks.  With Zoe we always did a dreamfeed and at around 8 weeks dh said he was too tired to do a DF so I said let's skip it and she has slept through ever since.  With the dreamfeed she was waking at around the same time as your little one - could be just coincidence too  ;)  I say try dropping the dreamfeed; bascially 3 things could happen-

1.  She sleeps through entirely
2.  She wakes up twice vs once
3.  She wakes up once like she does now with the DF

If her bedtime is after the last bottle at 7:00 then that's good.  2, 5 and 7 is acting as a clusterfeed.  Tracy recommends if one isn't working, concentrate on the other.

Let us know how it goes  :)
