6 mo and not really interested.
« on: March 11, 2006, 05:59:06 am »
My Lo is 6 months on monday and is really not interested in solids.  i do have to admit I haven't been super consistent.  I'm wondering how long it took everyone's Lo's for them to get used to it.
We tried sweet potatoes the other day and let her play with the food, she was more interested in playing than eating.  We are still on 3 hr. easy.  we tried 4 hour and she was starving and woke up all night hungry.  3.5 hours works well.  Do you all think that I can keep 3.5 hours and start solids?

confused ??? ??? ???

Hi,
I am no expert for sure but i am sure once solids are firmly established she will automatically go to a four hour easy.
Ds went to a 5 hour.
I started solids early so went well, but once I started 3 meals a day it took quite awhile.  You do have to be consistant with it though.  I would start with one meal, than 2 and so on.
Although i did have a couple set backs, like one week 3 meals went great, next week not so great, then good again, thenit was fruit only, then it went to veg only with fruit on the spoon with it, and then there was teething.............
My advice for you is to be constistant, but not to stress if lo does want right at this time.
I know a lot of it now with ds(8months)is textures, hes very fussy.  Dp and I are to, so......
HTH,
it'll come

thanks, I appreciate it.  Next week 6 month doctor visit and I think we start then for 1 meal a day.  Did you focus on 1 meal a day for a week and then move to two the next and 3?  That info might be helpful for me to plan out my consistent routine  ;)

Kate,
We started solids about 5 weeks ago, and have been on one meal a day all this time. We are introducing a second meal this weekend. It is only about the last 2 weeks that ds has consistently been really interested in eating. The first few weeks most of the food went all over him, me, the chair... Then one day he suddenly got the hang of it.

I think keep offering one meal, and don't worry about a second meal until she's really eating the first meal happily.

hth

I agree with the above poster.
Start with one and let lo get comfortable and enjoy for a couple days than go to next.  More than likely about 1-2 weeks depending on your lo.
Good Luck.
1 more piece of advice, try to start your veg b4 your fruit.  That was the problem we ran into with ds, we had to start fruit at 4 months due to constipation and so he did not accept veg easily.
