Sample routine 8-12months
« on: March 11, 2006, 10:23:13 am »
Hi Everyone,

I have noticed that alot of the sample routines are a little old so i would like to see what some more recent routines look like for 8-12month old so i can see what i am in for. Also i think my DD might be ready again soon to extend her awake time.

Thanks in advance, look forward to reading them all.

Natasha.

I'm reaching far back into my memory since I didn't properly document dd's routines throughout the first year.  I believe at 8 mos-almost 10 mos she was still on 4 bottles/day.  She also was having solids, and we generally did:
8 am:  breakfast followed by bottle
10-10:30 start time:  nap for 1.5-2 hrs
12-12:30 lunch followed by bottle
2:30-3:00 nap
bottle upon waking
5:00-5:30 dinner
7:30 bottle
8:00 bed

Around 12 months (bottles dropped along the way) she changed to about:
8:00 breakfast
10:00 snack
10:30 nap
12:30 lunch
3:00 snack
3:30 nap
5:30-6 dinner
7:30 bottle
8:00 bed

I am wondering the same thing.  My son is 9 months old and we can't get the afternoon nap timing down...Here's his schedule...or what I think it is

6:30 wake up and bottle
8:30ish breakfast
8:45 put in crib for wind-down and nap about 9
10:30 wake up and bottle
12:30 lunch
2:30 bottle, wind-down and asleep by 3
4:30 snack
5:30 dinner
6:00 bath and wind-down routine
asleep by 7

Amy, is your ds having trouble with his naps, or are you dissatisfied with the times?

Today was a little better...I just wish the afternoon nap would kick in a little earlier.  He's been staying up until 3.  The morning nap, I am going to try to push it back to 10, but this morning he woke up with a fever from his latest teeth :-(  The afternoon nap has become a bear.  The morning nap is easy, so I'm hesitant to move it, but if he's going to stay up from 10:30-3:30, I don't see what other option I have

I thought I would respond with our routine. My DD is 9 months as well and like Amy I am sort of struggling with the nap timing too.

7:30 bottle
8:30 solids
9:30 or 10am Nap (1.5-2hours)
12 or 12:30 Lunch
2pm bottle
2:30 Nap
5pm Dinner
7pm Bedtime

What seems to be happening is that bedtime is getting pushed later because sometimes DD's afternoon nap she doesn't wake up until 4pm or slightly later. I don't want to make her go to bed at 7pm if she isn't ready.  Also we have cut back to 3 bottles a day but I am not sure it is working. Today she had a morning bottle and a bedtime bottle and then small snacks of formula in between.  She had 2 oz at lunch, 3 oz at 2:15 and then 2 oz at 4pm.

I would respond, but I am having difficulty with her wakeups early in the morning and afternoon nap times, morning one is fine are difficult to as she is teething really badly.  But she has regressed on wanting to go to sleep again 2hrs 30mins after wakeup  ::)  previously I had it at 3hrs for about 3 weeks.

I think a lot of babies at this age want to nap 2.5-3 hours after they get up in the morning. I decided to run with it and it has been fine for Abbi. She actually has a longer nap if I just pay attention to her signs and put her down when she starts to fuss.  I am just trying to decide how to get these bottles into her.  Today I might give her a smaller lunch and then offer the bottle after lunch.

Hi, my lovely little girl is nine and a half months old now and her routine looks something like this:

6:30 wake and play in cot
7:00 bf
8:00 breakfast (cereal)
9:00 nap for 1.5 hours (give or take 1/2 hour)
11:30 lunch (veges, sandwich and fruit) followed by bottle 1/2 hour after lunch
1:30 nap for 1.5 hours (give or take 1/2 hour)
3:30 bottle
5:30 dinner (meat, vege, fruit)
6:30 bedtime routine including bottle
7:30 down for the night

Hope this helps :)

My ds looks like this:

6:30 wake
6:45 bf
7:30 solids
8:30 -10:00 nap
10:30 bf
12:00 solids
1:00 - 1:45 nap
3:00 bf
4:00 - 4:30 catnap
5:00 solids
6:00 wind down
7:00 bed

but here's the thing, he has been getting sooo tired an hour after he wakes in the morning that today I put him to sleep at eight instead of 8:30 if I wait any longer he becomes overtired and we all know how that goes :-\  my question is do I try to keep him up until nap time at 9 am from 6:30 am?  our afternoon naps are quite short right now too....trying to work on that.  As a result, he will sometimes take a catnap around 4.  Should I be getting rid of the catnap at this age, and how many hours of sleep just a child need at this age?

Thanks!
