Dropping daytime feeds
« on: March 14, 2006, 23:17:43 pm »
I am going back to work in a month and will be giving two formula feeds during the day. I will continue to b/f in the morning and at night (and during the night ::)). I did this with dd also when I went back to work. Will dropping the daytime feeds impact on my supply for the other feeds at all. I have already dropped the mid morning b/f and replaced it with a bottle in preparation and this morning at 7am ds was really chewing on me like there wasn't much there. I have a cut on my nipple and he had some blood in his mouth. It was my weaker breast and he was up a few times during the night, once more than normal...
Just wondering?

I would have thought that if you are only dropping 2 feeds your breasts should adjust and the other feeds should continue as you wish (especially if you are doing 2+). However it may take a few days to adjust and as you mention a difference between your breasts (which is very common) it could be that he was experiencing some frustration.
But.. Could he be teething?

I would agree.  Your supply should start to adjust and you should be able to easily continue nursing twice a day.  Just make sure to keep your fluids up etc.

Thanks! As I had done it with dd I knew it would be ok but was just doubting myself. Thanks for the reassurance!
