Remind me: how much A time for newborn?
« on: March 15, 2006, 01:13:19 am »
O.K.  having some trouble remembering when dd started to actually have anything that could be called activity time???  DS is only 1 week old so I know that beyond a feed and nappy change not to expect much.  However.......he is a fast feeder, sometimes it only takes 10-15 mins top to feed.  So I am wondering in total including feeding, how long should his awake time be at only 1 week old????

He is quite a sleepy baby and has days and nights confused so I am trying to get him into some type of routine.  Is 45 minutes too long/short at this point??????

Thanks

i think not, 45 min for one week sounds good to me, i guess just follow his cues.

Hi Janelle,

Congratulations on the arrival of your new baby  ;)
When DD was a newborn her activity time consisted of feed (she was a slow eater usually falling asleep) and a quick cuddle then straight back to bed (we changed her before feed as she was a chucky baby). She was a great sleeper and i only got up to her once a night for a feed which stopped at 6 weeks  :)
This was our routine until 2 months when she weined herself onto 4hr feeds and we started more of an EASY then.
What does her big sister think of the new addition?

Actually she isn't really fussed at the moment.  Says hello and gives "baby iam" a kiss and hug every so often but apart form that doesn't seem to notice he is around!!
