Lots of Gas and smelly poo
« on: March 16, 2006, 06:08:21 am »
so after a year i am finally wondering if this is a lactose intolerance thing?  lately she has been quite gassy, and i am not sure where it is coming from and her poops are horrible smelling!!!  sometimes they make me gag, could it be the milk or would something else be causing this, I have been told that when they are doing alot of solids that their poop changes , its not runny and not completely solid either (sorry sounds gross:()...and lactose intolerance runs on my side of the family, ie bloating, gas etc...I may try rice or soy milk to see if this helps and if she likes it better...thanks :)

You might want to also check to see if you can find probiotics - most health food stores carry them, in a refrigerated section. You can get them for babies and young kids too.

If she's had antibiotics any time in her life, her intestinal flora could be out of whack and probiotics should help. The powders have a LOT more organisms and different varieties in them than yogurt, but even yogurt might help some.
