Hi Lauren

Unless Zander's had a tricky night  ::) his day sleep tends to be limited to 3 hours, maybe a little less and it's been that way since he was about 6 months old - he's 7 months next week, I can't believe it!

Interesting about the toys as I've been wondering about putting Zander into a cot (he sleeps in a hammock) thinking he might wake up and play rather than call for me straight away.  I think I'll wait a while longer though as he sleeps so well in the hammock not being able to move, I expect he'd be up all night if I put him in the cot now and I couldn't handle that at the moment.

This morning he woke at 0645   :o

The differences yesterday where;
1. We slept-in an hour (got up at 8am)
2. Bed at 1940 rather than 2000 - he still woke twice screaming after 20mins
3. put the vest I had had on all day into his cot (um! nice) for him to pick up my scent.
4. His naps were a 1.5hr then a 1.25hr nap
5. His A time was 3hr from wake and 2.5 from 2nd nap - then 3.5 to bedtime

It could be anyone of these factors that have made him sleep again   ??? ??? ???

Well done Calum - whatever the reason ???

Maybe he just caught up a little with having a lie in and a slightlier earlier bedtime.  Long may it last!!

I have just come in from shopping and I left Calum with his daddy for the day, so I am going to put hi to bed at 1930 tonight (if I can get off here!) he has only had just under 3 hrs nap time and been up since 4pm.

So I will see how it goes  ???  How did you get on?

Well ....

https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=56665.

He's caught up with his sleep now - 3 hours this morning (and he lost 1.5 hours last night!) and 1.25 hours this afternoon.  He also ate so much at dinner time.  I had a lazy day and gave him jars for the first time (feeling a bit down about it all to be honest so I went to Tesco's and bought jars, wine and chocolate - not all for him of course!).  Anyway, he ate half a second stage jar of lamb casserole, half a jar of second stage banana desert and a cow & gate biscuit and would probably have eaten more if I'd sat there longer!  I think he's making up for breastfeeding being uncomfortable for him so I have to make sure he doesn't decide solids are more fun than milk.

He managed to sleep until 0645 again this morning,
Again I;

1. Put him to bed at 1930 rather than 2000 - cried out but fell asleep again after 1hr
3. put the vest I had had on all day into his cot (um! nice) for him to pick up my scent.
4. His naps were limited a 1.5hr then a 1.25hr nap
5. His A time was 3hr from wake and 3 from 2nd nap - then 3.5 to bedtime

We're the opposite here - he was awake for an hour at 4.30 following his 7 minute (!) feed so we slept in until 8.  Like you say, routine is all over the place!

OK, 5am are gone (for now) but the last 2 mornings he has woken at 6am, BRIGHT AS A BUTTON, and will not go back to sleep so I have had to start my day from 6am.

The only thing that has changed is bedtime is now 1930, not 2000. His naps are limite to 3hrs.

Any advise on how to get him back to 7am  ???

Maybe you could make the room completely dark? It might be the daylight that wakes him... It is also possible that he doesn't need as much sleep anymore though...

If it's the way it's going to be at least you can look at it positively in that you'll get to see him more before work and he's happy when he wakes up which is great!  You know I said we hung the blanket over the window because it's too light at bedtime, well the last couple of days we've had to wake Zander at 8am.  I'm sure it's because the morning light isn't waking him - I know you have blackout curtains but maybe hang something else up there too as Scott's Maw suggested?  Hope today goes well.  I didn't realise your DH was looking after Calum, that must make it a little easier.
