THE UPCOMING TIME CHANGE
« on: March 20, 2006, 08:35:24 am »
Hi there, hoping somebody will be able to answer this question for me.

our dd is currently going ot bed at 7pm and waking at 6am the next day....these early mornings are startiing to take their toll on me and I would much rather she went to bed a bit later and got up a bit later....however, having tried this in the past I know that she gets over tired if we keep her up any and it takes and age to get her to sleep, she wakes heaps in the night and then still wakes early in the morning.

i was wondering, with the upcoming time change and the clocks going forward, if I put her to bed at 8 her body clock will still think she is going to bed at 7, wont it?????? And then maybe then she will wake at 7am as her body will think it is 6am. Honestly you can set your watch by her in the mornings she wakes at exactly 6am every day.

what do you reckon??????

Yep, sounds like the best approach, I always did that with my ds when going into daylight savings since he's an early waker - unfortunately he always seems to revert back to early wakings after a wee while. But it's worth a try.

Good luck. :)

worth a try, however i tried this with dd and it only worked for about 3 days, at the moment she is going to sleep 8.15/8.30 and waking at 7.45/8.15, i am hoping for the opposite to happen, i would love for her to go to be earlier and wake earlier, what am i saying? if i could have read this 6 months ago i would have thought i was mad, but really 8am just doesn't work for us i'm hoping this time it will work for us and you

That's about what I'm planning to do with both of mine. A note, though: we live in a neighborhood near a railroad and the commuter trains come through at designated times, and I think that hearing them is part of what begins to wake up my kids, so white noise in the mornings, at least for a while, is going to be part of my plan.

I'm actually looking forward to the time change - I'd stay n Daylight Savings all year if I could! :) Gives the kids so much more Daddy time, and gives us more family time, plus the wakings and bedtimes and mealtimes work out better for my schedule.
