Dropping to 2 bottles/milk feeds
« on: March 21, 2006, 00:52:44 am »
Hi Everyone,

I have read a few post now where 8/9month old babies have already dropped their 3rd bottle (lunch time). My DD is fussy with hers and though i had to wait until 12months to drop it.
So my question is what age did your babies drop the lunch bottle and when they did was it replaced with a snack?

At the moment DD eating schedule is like this:

7.30am - Bottle 8oz
8.15am - Yoghurt (gone off cereal at the moment)
12pm - Fruit/Custard
1pm - Bottle anywhere from 5-6ozs usually a struggle to get her to drink
4pm - Snack Arrowroot biscuit.cheese
5pm - Meat/Vege and either pasta/rice depends what we are having.
6.30pm - Bottle 8oz

Always has water with all meals and snacks.
When she is around 9 months i want to give breakfast before bottle then push out lunch and dinner by half an hour.

Remember formula/breast milk is still the most important 'food' for your daughter (up until 1yr).  Maybe offer the bottle before the solids at that time (here we are advised to do this until 8/9m), and she might drink it that way...??

Thanks Becca will give it a go. I am giving her some of he formula in a cup to have at lunch time as well to get some more into her. If she doesn't finish the bottle after that i might give her the amount she didn't finish (which is usually 2ozs ) with her snack in the afternoon after her nap.

Well i gave her 1.5ozs with her lunch and she drank it  :) I then gave her 5ozs and she drank that in her usual bottle. Then gave her the 2ozs she didn't drink before that with her snack and she drank that, HOWEVER when it came to her night bottle only drank 5.5ozs instead of 8ozs  :( I think my DD only needs a total of 21.5ozs of milk a day and the extra 2ozs i pit in her cereal. I would rather she has the full 8ozs at morning and night. So i am going to continue giving her more milk in a cup with lunch and hope she eventually drop the bottle and not worry about it.
