Transition to 4 hr routine
« on: March 23, 2006, 14:04:17 pm »
My little one seems to want to stretch some of her feedings? She is 10 weeks old.  At what age do you typically see a 4 hr EASY?  Thanks!

Hello, yes 4 months is the typical time to go to 4hr feeds.

I'm wondering if you could do 3.5hrs between feeds maybe.  And if your lo doesn't starting waking during the night, I'd say your routine is working GREAT.

Hi my DS did 4hr at 13 weeks, he had been pushing to 3.5 before that. Every LO is different.

My 12 week old is starting to extend his time between feeds, too.  Generally, he goes 4 hours for his first 2 cycles and then 3 hours for the next two (and I cluster feed 2 hours after the 4th feed before bedtime as he is yet to get in a successful dream feed) - I am just starting to work towards the transition to 4 hours and plan to do so by slowly extending the time in the afternoons between feeds as he is doing it himself in the morning already.  I decided to do this when his night wakings continued past his 3 month growth spurt and has needed full feedings at both night wakings....
