avacado... constipating?
« on: March 23, 2006, 21:43:27 pm »
Hi,
My lo has been on solids for almost 3 weeks.  Rice cereal, bananas, sweet potatoes and acorn squash went great.  She ate avacado yesterday and today and seemed to be straining on afternoon bms.  Anyone else find avacado to be constipating?  Just wondering.
Thanks
~Rachel

I haven't found that with DD but hey they are all different.  I hope she gets back to normal soon.

I just had a quick look in my home health book for you and found that avo is advised as a good cure for constipation so perhaps it isn't the avo.  I know bananas can constipate DD, did she have any of those?  ???

Yes, but she's been eating those with no problems for a while now (they were her second food, and we're introducing a new one every 4 days)

Avocados had quite an opposite effect on my ds, so I guess you never know what will happen!

Perhaps we'll try not so much tomorrow.  I think maybe I gave her too much.
What about teething... can that be constipating? (I know, wrong board   ;))

DD gets diarrhea when she is teething and I know that's quite common so I doubt its that.  I know bananas can have a cumulative effect and I was advised to only give them every other day.  I hope she is better today
