Our day starts at 5:30.
« on: March 25, 2006, 18:01:13 pm »
What would be a good EASY schedule for a 4 month old?  Our day starts at 5:30 and would need to end about 7 or 7:30.

I want her to have a nap schedule that is pretty close to others (9:00 and 1:00) so we can participate in play groups etc.  I was thinking of implementing a cat nap in the morning around 6:45 and at night.  Is this reasonable?

Thanks very much.

Do you want to start the day at 0530 or does your LO wake then and not go back to sleep?
This will help to give you an example routine

Our day starts at 5:30.  On most days, I have the opportunity to put her down for a nap (or cat nap) at 6:45.  She definately needs one by then.

THANKS!

How often is she going between feeds i.e 3hr/3.5hr/4hr or longer?

How long can she stay awake between naps, DS was 2 hrs.

I have something on paper, but it helps to know the above so I don't give anything you don't need.

Do you travel to daycare? Does she sleep in the car on way?

she can go 4 hours.  i am working w/ that schedule.

she is not in daycare.  we drive my husband 1.5 miles to the train.  she does not sleep in the car at that time.

plus we have play groups about 10. 0n some days.  i would need to feed her, at the very latest, at 9:15.  i am totally stuck on a good napping schedule.

thanks again.

At 4 months my DS was able to stay awake 1.5 / 2hrs between naps, it may not be realistic of you to try and put her down for a nap at set times. If your play groups are only on certain days then you may be able to tweak the routine a little for that day. I have seen myself walking 3 miles to get to a massage class to try and get him to nap earlier. Our day usually goes EASA...

I think it is vry difficult for me to come up a routine for you as there are many more questions that need to be asked. As Corrina said previously it is better if you post your current routine, do you feel that your current routine is not working? 0530 - 1930 is a long day for a LO.
