We have our 4.5 mo on the 4hr easy.  He gets up at 7 and goes to sleep around 7:30.  Several days a week we have family commitments  that may keep us out after his bedtime.  Should we try to adjust his overall routine to allow for these variations or can we simply try to "stretch" his routine on that particular day?  We don't want to mess up his routine or night sleep.

In these instances I presonally just give him a catnap nap of 10 -15mins at his normal bedtime and he lasts for another 3 hours, however my DS  is 10 months and I have only done this he was 8months and never more than 2 few times a month.

You would need to just try it and see  :-\

Thanks for the advice.  We will try this on those weird days and see what happens.  Worse case, he could be up later. :o

I love the EASY theory and am looking forward to implementing it, my one concern had been getting out and about and if I would ever be able to manage it within the Easy steps, thanks for all the above advice, no doubt I will be back for more in the weeks and months ahead, it's great to have so many other women in the same boat!!
