No more bottles at 10 months old?
« on: March 29, 2006, 12:58:41 pm »
I have a ds who is almost 10 mo old. He has been using a cup for awhile now and is great with it. After talking to his peditrician at the last check-up I decided to try to give his formula in the cup instead of the bottle a couple of times a day. He is doing really great. We have been doing EASY since day one and have been doing four bottle feeds a day about four hours apart. Right now he is taking milk (formula) in a cup with breakfast and lunch.

Then he would be due for milk about 4 p.m. and his last bottle is about 7:30 p.m. I would like to switch completely over to the cup but I am not sure when to feed. If I just give him milk with his dinner, that would be three milk feeds a day, (B, L, and Dinner) But he has dinner about 5:30-6 p.m. and then wouldn't have any milk before bed. Or should I just offer the milk in a cup at the times I have been giving a bottle? At his 4 p.m. time I could give milk and a snack and at bedtime just offer the cup?

I have looked all over the board and can't seem to find any info on when babies switch over to the cup completely and how to set up the schedule.

Thanks for any help!

My 8 month old only has three bottles a day one in the morning one before bed and one after lunch. She has been fussing with her lunch bottle so i give her some formula with her lunch to try and get some more into her and it has worked a treat. She now has aprrox 50mls and i am hoping to increase it until she is having all of her lunch bottle in a cup with lunch.
Anyway what you could do it split the bedtime bottle give half with dinner and the rest before bedtime.

Hi,
My son was completely off of the bottle at 10.5 months. He would have a sippy cup full of formula for breakfast, lunch, and supper and then one right before bed. His supper was around 5 and then bedtime was at 7. He never had any problems having two close together. If yours won't take two close together, then I would do like Natasha Wells suggested and just split one out throughout the day. So, a full one for breakfast, lunch, adn right before bed. Then, the fourth you could split between supper and snacks. Also, if you mix formula in with his cereal, that counts into the total daily oz.

Good luck.  :)
