Hi Breast-feeding Mommies!!
I BF my 1st DS for 1 year, & am now nursing my 2nd DS who is 7 mos. old. I love it! Thought I would share this with other nursing mommies, who are enjoying it too.

In honor of Dr. Seuss's b-day last week and us nursing moms, I give you:
Seuss for Nursing Mommies

Would you nurse her at the park?
Would you nurse him in the dark?
Would you nurse him with a boppy?
And when your boobs are feeling floppy?

I would nurse her in the park.
I would nurse him in the dark.
I'd nurse with or without a boppy.
Floppy boobs will never stop me.

Can you nurse with your seat belt on?
Can you nurse from dusk til dawn?
Though she may pinch me, bite me, pull,
I will nurse her til she's full.

Can you nurse and make some soup?
Can you nurse and feed the group?
It makes her healthy strong and smart,
Mommy's milk is the best start!

Would you nurse him at the game?
Would you nurse her in the rain?
In front of those who dare complain?
I would nurse him at the game.
I would nurse her in the rain.

As for those who protest lactation,
I have a perfect explanation.
Mommy milk is tailor made
It's perfect food, you need no aid.

Some may scoff and some may wriggle,
Avert their eyes or even giggle.
To those who can be cruel and rude,
Remind them breast's the perfect food.

I would never scoff or giggle,
Roll my eyes or even wiggle!
I would never be so crass or crude,
I KNOW that this milk's the perfect food!

We make the right amount we need,
The perfect temp for every feed.
There's no compare to milk from breast-
The perfect food, above the rest.

Those nursing smiles are oh so sweet,
Mommy milk is such a treat.
Human milk just can't be beat.

I will nurse, in any case,
On the street or in your face.
I will not let my baby cry,
I'll meet her needs, I'll always try.
It's not about what's good for you,
It's best for babies, through and through.

I will nurse her in my home,
I will nurse her when I roam.
Leave me be lads, leave me be ma'am
I will nurse her, MOM I am.

Gunnar is the first baby I've nursed past 4 months.  We are down to 4 nursings a day, and 1-2 at night, and I love every one of them.  I am amazed at how every nursing seems to get more special.

I'm not even sure when it happened really but I didn't realize it changes so much as they grow.  Now he has this sweet, special, need/desire to nurse like he knows he's warm, loved and safe.  Like, when it's time to nurse, he knows it, and it's just as wonderful for him as it is for me.  Make sense?

When I dreamed of how breast feeding a baby would be...this is how I imagined it!

Fantastic Kate and that poem is SOOOOOO sweet and I have another reason why I love BF my Edward. This reason is he is my last so I want to have that extra special time with him that no one else can have an giving him his bf is that time. He is now 10 months old he is the only one of my 3 precious gems that I have not had a touch of PND with and I am so proud to the extent that I am trying to encourage my friend how is TTC to try bf her baby when she has it and told her I will help her in everyway possible even show her the right and wrong positions now so that she has some pre-knowledge as she formula feed her last 2 and at the moment says she will not entertain bf as she will not feel comfortable but she is asking questions so maybe I might be convincing her to give it try even if it is only for a few weeks

I came onto this thread to put my 2ps worth in - why I'm so happy to be breast feeding.

I guess for me there are lots of reasons.  I'm suffering PND and breastfeeding is a massive positive in my life - something that enables me to feel good about myself!  Having that closeness with another human being that is never equalled in any relationship other than the breastfeeding mother and her nursling relationship!  Never having to be particularly organised when I leave the house - Sophie is old enough that she doesn't need any "baby" things, so I can just get the girls in the car, put a nappy or two in my handbag, and we're away!

To be completely frank, the list goes on and on and on!  All I know is that I love breastfeeding - now that the cracked nipples are well in the past, there's nothing I don't love about breastfeeding!!!

And yes Kate, it's horrible knowing that we'll not experience this again with future babies huh?  I'm enjoying nursing so much right now that it kinda makes me want to have another... (remember SPD, remember SPD, remember SPD... ;))

Just wanted to say how much your short story ment to me, you truly are a wonderful mummy. To give your lo the start in life they need and to be suffering from PND and all your other things you deal with. You really should be proud of yourself.

And yes i too toyed with idea of having another one for this time again, but..............................nice thought though.

Ahhhhhh i'm glad its not just me then!!

I use to feel that way too!  That was a huge part of me wanting another baby after Ben.  I really really wanted breastfeeding to work out and I had major guilt when I stopped breast feeding him.  I quit for the wrong reasons and was totally uninformed and unsupported at that time.

Now, Gunnar and I are almost to the 1 year mark and only you ladies know how wonderful a feeling that is.  I have experienced some guilty regret at not nursing my other children this long.  I have this wonderful experience of an older nursling with Gunnar that I don't have with my other children and I sooooooo wish I got to experience that with them too.

But...no use beating myself up about it huh?!  What's done is done.  I just hope I can pass on my knowledge and experience to my daughter (and maybe even my daughters-in-law) when she has children of her own.

Why am I happy to be breast feeding? 'Cause I just don't really think I could do it any other way.

Just wanted to add my piece, because I've been breastfeeding my first child for four months today (yay!) and I'm so pleased I'm doing it.

Although I've had mastitis four times (from my oversupply and bimbo breasts which have trouble regulating), I still love nursing. I've been loving these stories, I find this thread so inspiring.

Not only do I find the time we spend nursing peaceful, I find it a sensual pleasure. Does that sound odd? I like the hormone rush I get with nursing, and find the connection with my son is more intimate than any other I've ever had, I think, except perhaps with a lover. Bizarre, huh? But true!

Not odd at all - I completely agree with all of that!

I want to say I am happy because I really didn't think I could do it. I never thought I was strong enough or good enough to do it and I am. That more then anything makes me happy.

It is a very empowering feeling, isn't it Kimberly. It's a very natural progression, you nourished your baby for 9 months inside your body, now your body is providing her with everything she needs to grow and thrive. It really is a miracle when your baby grows bigger and you look down at them one day and think, "Hey, I did all that".

You are doing amazing xx
