Reading this has actually highlighted some of my DD mannerisms.
Her panting to be fed makes me smile so much. So expectant and excited. Sometimes she just dives in, misses the nipple and tries to latch onto whatever flesh is in front of her!
My favourite thing is the way she strokes my arm with the back of her hand as she feeds. Such soft hands and such a precious moment.
I don't think I appreciated it as much until this thread got me thinking. DH declared he is envious that I have that time/bond with our daughter.

What a great thread!!

Luckily I had a supportive dh and mum, who loved the fact I wanted to b/f. My mum in particular... She had fed my older brother but not me due to medical reasons.

When I am feeding DD, it feels such an achievement that I am "growing" this amazing little person, and those smiles when she has enjoyed a good feed, are just for me... It's totally priceless!

I hope that I can give dd the confidence and support to feeed her children, as it has been the most amazing gift that my mum gave to me.

Claire

Love and adore my perfect little textbook/touchy DD
Born April 10th 2011...thank you to Dh for such an amazing gift after only 1 year of marriage!

I realised today how great it is to still be bf as dd has the flu - high temperature, refusing food and drink - but keeps asking for milk  :).  It's so great to be able to give her cuddles, fluids, calories and antibodies all at the same time  :).  I shall ignore the snot on my boobs  :-X :P

:D :-*  Hope baby feels better soon.

I LOVE this thread.  Went back and re-read some old posts of mine and others.  Gives me that falling in love feeling in my tummy.

Absolutely. Audrey nursed like a newborn during that flu, I was so grateful we still had that option!

DD and I had an extra lovely nursing moment this morning :D  I went to bed late last night so I was feeling quite lazy when DD woke up so I asked DH to get her up and bring her to me in bed.  I've never really nursed DD in bed because it was quite uncomfortable for me when she was a newborn but I was tired enough this morning that I thought I'd give it another go.  I nursed her in the side-lying position and she was quite content to lay with me and have a huge breakfast (and it was lot more comfortable for me now that she's bigger) but the real fun started after.  I moved her onto my tummy for a play and she looked down at my breasts and her eyes got huge and she got the biggest "I'm in heaven" grin and proceeded to dive in for more milk.  Every so often she'd come up, smile, and dive onto the other side.  She LOVED that she got to choose the side and switch as often as she wanted and she was so enthusiastic and excited it was hilarious - this went on for 20 minutes (she usually is done nursing in 10 or less).  I love that I can make my LO that happy while nourishing her growing body! ;D

Sooooooo grateful to be still nursing my big baby... she has had a bad tummy bug for four days and not eating ANYTHING. But she's been nursing 6 times per day and I'm so glad to be able to feed her something that I know won't irritate her little tummy.

I love bf'ing my LO! It was hard at first he started on formula and pumped bottles because he refused to latch, but then he got it down and he's such an angel. My favorite part is when he finishes and rolls back and smiles at me. :) or when he strokes my face while eating. I love when he stares at me, and when he closes his eyes and just enjoys his meal. Every moment is perfect!
