Bad latch on nipple (bottle) - Any options?
« on: April 01, 2006, 12:55:35 pm »
Did any of your babies have a bad latch on the bottle nipple? (possibly that allowed a lot of air in) If so, how did you fix it?

I am currently using Dr. Brown's bottles (and Nutramigen). The left side of my DD's lip is an open sore.

So tons of air gets in. Any suggestions?

TIA,
Sharon

How about an orthodontic shaped nipple, they use their tongues to create the suction instead of their mouths so it may help.

I second the orthodontic nipple.  My DD was having a hard time latching on.  I had Avant, Playtex and Evenflo nipples and none really worked until a pediatric nurse suggested orthodontic nipples.  You have to be patient cause it takes them alittle while to get use to it.  I use the Gerber silicone.

We used the NUK teats on a normal cheap bottle and that worked really well.

Let us know how you get on.
