That excellent Kelly, I am really pleased - especially since it stopped the night feeds.

Do you feel like your feeding Zander all day, when he isn't sleeping now? That's what has always put me off moving to 3, however DS is having a good drinking phase at the moment anyway.

Thanks Lauren.  That boy is always eating - if it's not boob then it's solids but I have one less feed to do now at least.  I'm confused  ???  why would giving Calum one less feed mean he's eating more?

Maybe not eating more, but more frequently throughout the day.

I think I'm just being thick - he's eating less frequently because there's one less feed.  Do you mean when I introduce snacks?

No, its not you it the  way I explained it  ::)

at the moment I feed Calum at;
0730/1200/1630/1930 + solids straight after the first 3 meals

if I dropped a feed and moved his middle 2 together it would mean that I would feed;
0730/1400 ish/1930 + solids at 0800/1200/1630

So it means I wouls be feeding him something at
0730 milk
0800 solids
1200 solids
1400 milk
1630 solids
1930 milk for bed

At the moment if I plan to go out it is either in time for his first nap and I give a bottle and lunch when out or after lunch as I know I can be out until just before the 1630 feed.

When I drop to 3 milk and solids, I will also have to stop for milk at 1430 (along with the 1200 lunch and 1630 dinner), I think its more an issue for me because he gets so distracted outside (even in a baby changing area) and can take 30mins to take 6oz  ::) ::)

It's probably me being more selfish then anything  ??? because I am used to the 4.5 hr block where I don't have to worry about feeding. They talk about babies associating negative experiences with feeding, I have one myself because he is SO up and down with his milk feeds. Luckily we are on an up at the moment.

Sorry Lauren, I understand now!  I don't give Zander his solids and milk at the same sitting so I couldn't see what you were saying but it makes sense now  ;)

This is a great thread.  I am in the same boat right now -- curious about dropping a feed so I hope you ladies continue to post how things are going.  We're in the process of weaning the df by making it earlier and am thinking of swapping a day feed for a snack.  So far with the df I'm at 10:15 instead of 11:00 but she has started waking about 1 hour earlier in the morning, so I'm not sure if she can make it that long yet!  It could be the earlier sunshine also, but we'll have to see.....
I'm eager to hear how you ladies make out.

This is a great thread!
Zandersmom - I know this is way back in April (eons in baby months) but could you post the feeding schedule you stuck to once you dropped to to 3 feeds?

Many thanks

Hi  ;D

Well we're now down to 2 feeds  :o  Before we dropped the third feed we were doing this;

Wake and BF 6-7am
Breakfast 8am
Lunch 11.45am
BF 2.30pm
Dinner 5pm
BF 6.30pm
Bed 7pm

He now has a fruit snack when he wakes from his nap at about 10am, lunch is at 12pm and he has a couple of chunks of cheese or a yogurt for his snack when he wakes from his afternoon nap at about 3pm and only breastfeeds when he wakes in the morning and before bed.

Sounds fantastic!

My DS, alias little terror is 9.5 months, takes 4 bfs during the day, 3 meals and is currently night waking at 10pm, 1am, 3am, 5am, 6am and 8am.  ??? Most times, I have to feed him to get him back to sleep. As from tonight, I'm not feeding anymore after midnight!!! Lets see.
