question about awake time
« on: April 02, 2006, 08:05:54 am »
I remember reading somewhere that babies shouldn't be awake for more than 2 hours. At what age does this not necessarily apply? My LO is 4 months and at the moment 2 hours is about right for him but am just wondering when I can expect it to go beyond the 2 hours. I'm a bit paranoid at the moment to keep him awake any longer than that as I don't want him to get overtired.

Thanks
Cath, 33

Each baby is different.  When my DD was about the same age as your DS she could only keep awake for 1hr 15mins -1hr 30mins.

Are you on the 4hr EASY?

Just read your DS cues for when he is tired.

When he takes shorter naps, that is the cue to start increasing his awake time again.

I don't think my dd started going past 2 hrs of A time until after 8 months.

Since I begaN EASY @ 3 months with my son he has only been able to go 2 hours--possibly 2.5 between morning waking and 1st nap. He is 10 months old and this is still the case. However, in the afternoon he is awake from 11 am till about 3pm. So, I don't know why, but thats how it is!  ;) He does sleep through the night, has since about 6 months....I agree with Corrina--just read your LO's cues....some days vary on awake time for everyone I imagine.
