How did the time change go for you?
« on: April 03, 2006, 13:14:35 pm »
For those of you that had a time change this past weekend, how did it go?

We started our new routine...one that I prefer.  She woke up at 7:30 a.m. that morning (6:30 old time), took a nap from 12:45 to 2:45 and then was in her bed by 8:00 p.m.  She didn't fall asleep until 9:05 though.  She wasn't overtired and her room wasn't light so I don't know why it took so long.  She was really really wound up!  I am hoping to get her back to sleeping within 30 mins.  We'll see.  Then she woke up at 7:10 a.m. this morning.  Not bad.  i'll put her to sleep at 1:00 and try again for the 8:00 bedtime.

I had the same problem with the bedtime. I put my lo down at 7:30 and she wouldn't sleep until 8:30, she just didn't seem to understand there was a time change ::). I'm expecting tonight to be back to normal, hope it is for you as well.

My guy - 14 months has seemed to adapt well to the time change and we're hoping it fixed the early morning wakings.  He woke up on Sunday at 7:15 (8:15 time change) and today at 6:50 regualr time (which is good).  He had no problem going to bed at his regualr time at 7:30pm and did not wake through the night.  I really hope this will persist.  :)

After a few months of having a 7:30 to 5:30 night and 12:30 to 2 nap, Margot decided in the few days BEFORE the time change to change her routine to 7:30-6, with a nap from 1-3.  So yesterday Margot was up at 7 (new time), nap at 1:40 to 3:30 and not asleep until 8:45.  She was up at 6:45 this morning.  I'm actually hoping to move her schedule back a bit to get a 8-6:30 night 1:30-3/3:30 nap.  As usual with my dd no change goes without its bumps!

Not so great! We actually had a good routine starting (finally)the week before the time change. Down at 12(asleep by 12:30) and down at 7(asleep by 7:30) which was amazing considering we've been having problems for months. Of course the time changes and now she will never settle to sleep. I even tried keeping the times the same so putting her to bed later for her nap and bed. Didn't work. Now today, no nap at all, which is probobly for the better because I can try to get her to bed at the right time tonight and straighten her out. I can't wait till they stop the time change!!

Bedtime hasn't been so bad for us, and really mornings haven't either - she seems to consistently wake at about 7 - 7.30 ish since the clock change - which I can live with (although would like a little bit longer at the weekend!).

I've been stalling on addressing this one as I couldn't really tell. It's been GREAT for my 4 1/2 year old as he's been sleeping til as late as 8:30 and actually causing problems to get him to preschool on time! (He's also been a little sick so needed the extra hours). However, dd has not been going down too well at night for a couple weeks off and on, and it seems like the time change has just made it that much worse. It's after 9 pm tonight and she's still chatting away in her room, been in her crib for well over an hour. She's now going to bed LATER than she was before the time change. What?!?! I cut her nap to less than 2 hours today hoping it would help. She was up by 3, but maybe that's too late since her normal bedtime is around 7:15. I think I'm going to have to move her nap time earlier and see if that makes a difference.

All that said, both my kids are waking after 6:30 in the morning which is decent but not fabulous!
