Cranberries?
« on: April 04, 2006, 16:38:38 pm »
Has anyone given their LO cooked, pureed cranberries?  I think I might give it a try, but I'd love to hear if anyone's tried it before.  My daughter loves everything I've fed her (so far  ;)), so I thought it couldn't hurt to try.  I imagine they'd be very tart, but perhaps I can sweeten them with applesauce...

Also, I'm thinking of giving her some apricot puree, as well.  But I would be making it from dried apricots that have been preserved with sulphur dioxide. Does anyone know if that's something to be avoided for babies?

Nothing wrong with cranvberries if you have given your doughter berries before and she is not allergic. I am sure others will tell oyu different but I have been given my daughter dried apricots for months now and my doctor has said nothing about it..

Unlike strawberries and raspberries, blueberries and cranberries are NOT a common allergen. I think pureed cranberries might taste nice mixed with pears or apples.

I would try to get the dried apricots without the sulphur dioxide. Whole Foods has them, as do most organic/health markets. Then you can boil them in some white grape juice and puree!
