Won't eat homemade food
« on: April 07, 2006, 00:50:59 am »
Hi- I've been feeding my son (8months) store bought food for about 2 months. So, I got the karmel book and decided to make some food for my son.

I made 3 different things and he will not eat the,. I know the consistency is different but he GAGS as soon as it goes in his mouth. Quite the compliment to my cooking!

Can someone tell me what I can blend it with to make the consistency more like storebought brands?
I made 3 things:
1- sweet potatoe and squash, mixed with cottage cheese
2- brocoli and yellow beans mixed with cream cheese
3- ground beef, macaroni and cheese

I put them all in the food processor and ground it pretty small but I think I need it more liquidy, should I add stock, or something?

Thanks in advance

You may want to try a single ingrediant and build up tp mixing foods.  Maybe that will ease him into it.  Also, you can mix in breastmilk, formula or water into the foods to thin them.
Perhaps someone has more ideas

Just wanted to comiserate- we have this problem too!
But the above post is very true- start small one ingredient and then a little formula or breastmilk. Also, bananas seem to be a great mix-in.

Try mixing together the jar food and homemade food half and half. Then over days slowly decrease the amount of jar food so their is more and more homemade food.

Thanks for the tips...

Stacy: I chose those foods because those were the ones he liked storebought (loved sweet potatoe and the squash) and he loves eating cottage cheese and cream cheese so I figured if I added them to th emix he would love them...
