Sterilizing Bottles

How old should my baby be to stop sterilizing his bottles?? He is 8months and putting everything in his mouth anyway, so what's the point?  Thanks for the help!

I stopped sterilising at 6months as everything was going in her mouth as well so i though what is the point.
HOWEVER i still wash her bottles after every use in boiling hot soapy water and put them in the dishwasher everytime we set it off. I also do the same with her cup.

I sterilized every day until ds was 3 mo. Since then I do it once and while but the last couple months I don't think I've done it at all, come to think of it.... I just wash them in extremely hot water and let them soak for a bit first.

I still do and I think I should be doing it until 1 year, need to check   :-[ Although like Natasha says everything gets thrown in their mouths anyway  ???

we sterilized up to 12 months old.

I still sterilise all of Wills bottles because I make the milk up each night and leave it in the fridge. Since milk is such a good breeding ground for bugs I think its important to minismise the risk of anything being in the milk and multipying to a concentration where it could cause Will probems.

His toys are washed regularly and are only in his mouth for a very short time when he does pop them in - and they aren't all that good a place for breeding germs as they are mainly plastic.

I think I will always sterilise bottles as long as Will is having them...

How would you reccommend Sterilizing while travelling?Going on holidays for 5 days,but have a 12hour car trip and not sure best way to clean bottles while away?
New to Bottles and Formula...

Hiya

You can get sterilising fluid / tablets which you put in cold water and soak the bottles to sterilise them. Ive also got some really handy sterilising bags which you can pop 3 bottles into and out into a microwave if you can get access to one.

I have also got some really cool sterile disposable bottles which you can use once and throw away - this removes the need for sterilising altogether if you have anough of them for the time you are away.
