Wheat-free Cheerios equivalent?

I'll probably start DS on some more chunky cereal in a few weeks time. He's doing great with baby cereal (rice and oatmeal) and we have a mesh feeder that he can gum on.

I'd like to keep him away from wheat till 1 yr (my family has a history of intolerance). I notice that oat cheerios have wheat starch in. Does anyone know of a pure oat equivalent? I need to check out the organic / healthfood aisle of my local Fred Meyers, but we live in a small town, so I'm not too optimistic  :(

Sorry it took so long to get back to you!!  On a simple note, Gerber apple flavored fruit wheels are wheat free.  If you want to get more complex about it, type "gluten free cereal" into a search engine.  Lots of interesting stuff that way.  I found an "o" made with pinto beans!  More expensive that way, but better than risking an allergy that sticks around.  Then it gets REALLY expensive.     ;)  BTW, I'd never noticed that Cheerios had wheat to them.  Thanks for the info!

Just the other day I heard about something called Perky O's (http://www.perkysnaturalfoods.com) - they have no wheat, gluten, dairy, casein, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs or soy.

I plan to find them for my own DD soon!

I found some at Whole Foods that were good.  I think they were just called Oat O's.  I don't use them anymore b/c we suspect a problem w/ oat as well as wheat.
