trying to extend naps - leads to night wakings?
« on: April 11, 2006, 19:28:27 pm »
My lo used to catnap 5 times a day (30 min. a piece)

Since I've tried extending her naps, she has had severe night wakings

Should I wait until she can take longer naps on her own before trying to enforce a schedule so that maybe her night wakings won't be as bad?  Maybe when she's older...?  She was severly colicky (still has breakdowns once in a while).  SO, I'm wondering if i should go back to shorter naps so that the day makes more sense to her and she can get the rest she needs at night.

With her catnaps, she was getting 2.5 hours of day sleep (sometimes 3).  Now, she gets (somewhat disrupted) about 4.5 hours and has been having INSANE night wakings.  Is the extra sleep messing her up?  Should i go back to the short naps and let her wake on her own without pat/sh?  She's a bit cranky that way, but i don't know what else to do, because the night wakings are terrible!

Can you post her whole daily routine?  That may help find the issue.
