Tips on Bland Diet for Mom
« on: April 13, 2006, 01:42:30 am »
My lo is 4 months.  If have been having issues with gas since I brought her home. You can put your hand on her stomach and feel the gurlging of the gas as it is moving and hear it!!  I am trying to eat as bland a diet as I can, but would appreciate any other suggestions.  I have cut herbs and spices out of my cooking except for salt and pepper. I drink herbal tea.  Don't drink coffee. Have occassionally had some chocolate (Easter's here!!). I don't eat cabbage, broccoli. I don't drink milk. I do eat cheese. Would just cheese be causing this much gas?  She just woke up 2 hours into her night sleep screaming!!  It's been 45 minutes and we can't get her back to sleep.  Have been giving her Ovol as recommended by doctor.  It's thicker than gripe water and the doctor seems to think works better.  She feeds well every 4 hours during day and sleeps ok for 2 naps a day. (Is also teething, so trying to work on that as well). Have also been having issues with irregular bowel movements and doctor said to give her 2 oz of water in between feedings...but she won't take bottle.  She doesn't even like a pacifier!  Whew!  Needless to say, nights around here don't see much sleep!

You may want to try giving up the cheese (and all other known milk products) for 2 weeks and see if you notice any change. Yes, they really can make a big difference.

When my lo was younger, I noticed that seafood would bother him.  But he has since outgrown it.  I think milk and milk products are usually one of the bigger culprits.
