4 hour transition and now spitting up like mad!
« on: April 11, 2006, 17:01:35 pm »
I posted a question two days ago about my little 4 month old who was waking from her night sleep after only being asleep for 20 minutes and then again around 40 minutes.  Well, after looking at my schedule, Teezee, you suggested that I increase my feedings to 4 hours instead of what I was doing.  Well, she adjusting in 1 day.  I see now that I was not responding to her hunger cues, but making the mistake of thinking that the more often I feed her the more she will eat.  Anyways, thank you for the help.  Now my problem is that she is eating every 4 hours, alot more intake I believe, but spitting up A LOT more than ever.  She would rarely spit up before.  What is going on?  Is she taking in too much now since I am waiting and she is actually hungry when I feed her??  Thank you for the help..

My DS also started doing this around 4 months but it wasn't to do with 4 hourly feeds because I started that much earlier. For some unknown reason he started spitting up, sometimes even 2 hours later!   :o A few other people have noticed this strange phenomenon  :-\ Anyway, after a couple of weeks, he's stopped doing it-touch wood! Not sure what caused it.

Yeah, she will spit up even hours after a feeding.  One time I put her on her tummy to play, this was at least 1 hour after feeding, and she spit up A  LOT.  It was weird because she does not usually do that.  I will hope that it only lasts a little bit.  Thank you for your experience info.  that helps to know others have gone through it too.

I had the same thing happen around the 4 month point. I thought it was to do with the 3-4 hr transition cause I was also starting to bf on both sides again as well but it seemed to start before that and it would happen even if she only drank from one side (and sometimes an hr or two later?). I actually reduced my caffeine intake (because the only thing I could link it to was a bit of increased tea drinking around the time it started). It seems to have helped a bit but the spit up still happens. Glad to hear it might not be the tea if others are going through it?!

This is happening to us too, my ds started it about 3 days ago. I was really worried but he seems fine. Nothing has changed in his routine, or formula, but he's spitting up more and more often. He really only used to do it a little bit. I was wondering if it is a teething thing, as I can see teeth under his upper gumline. We are still trying to move from 3 EASY to 4, but I am really confused by his cries at around the 3-3.5 hour mark, as sometimes I think it might be teeth pain, but he always seems to want a normal feed anyway.

My LO did the same thing around 4 months and the pediatrician said that they start spitting up more around this age so...I think it is mostly just because of the age, now my LO is 5.5 months and she has good days and bad as far as spit up
